Change Starts with You | Dhar Mann and Lewis Howes

Thank you for watching this powerful interview with Dhar Mann!
Check out the show notes here: www.lewishowes.com/898
Dhar Mann is a serial entrepreneur who has experienced the highs and lows of success. From funding millions of dollars in real estate loans at 19 to his time in the medical marijuana industry, to scaling an eight-figure cosmetics business, he has a proven ability to build companies. Most recently he has become the fastest-growing viral video creator in less than one year with over 3 billion views across Facebook, IGTV, and FRproject.
Recently, I became friends with Dhar in real life and was blown away by his story of shallow success, failure, rock bottom, reinvention, and true success today.
After disappearing from social media for 4 years, losing everything, including his reputation, and getting into legal trouble, Dhar has reappeared as a new man. I loved hearing him tell his full story, for the first time publicly, and the wisdom he has learned from losing everything to building it back the right way. I’m excited for you to hear this story yourself in Episode 898 with Dhar Mann

  • Success isn't necessarily about money entrepreneurship worked in gvt depts looking after mentally ill all my life only ever had hundreds or thousands but had 4 homes travelled dozens countries. Sold houses get daughter great education and did bucket list before die so achieved all goals relationships lifestyle etc " have no debt now own no properties but rentamazing apartment 360 degree views and lifestyle. Now save 70 percent of salary to have a quiet downsized retirement. Had great life on a normal budget less stress but still succeeded game of life. Don't you interview people who are spiritually rich. Not necessarily money rich but still made it in the game of life.

  • Great story and lessons here - however, while I like Dhar's vidoes I am not sure why he still posts all the extravagance and wealth on social media - he seems to still associate (as in his own words) the display of wealth with receiving love. Lewis is a wonderful interviewer!

  • Another lesson Dhar: You mentioned the videos was only getting 5,000 or so views and “It WAS NOT WORTH MY TIME”, but here’s the lesson: If ONE PERSON life has been forever affected in a positive way, IT WAS WORTH YOUR TIME. Again, you made it about money or “building your reputation or brand”. If your heart ♥️ is truly to inspire, then it is all worth it. I’ve read comments under your videos and so many say they help them. I would’ve never said anything about little views being “not worth my time”. Come on now. That was a turn off to me. If one person is helped from whatever I do, then many more lives will change because of the affect that I made on that one person. You measured the success of your inspirational videos by the amount of likes you received. You got all excited about that ONE “last” video going viral that you missed the fact that the other videos might have saved a life. I wish I would’ve never came to see this video because now I feel some kind of way about you.

    • Suzy Person I respect and understand your perspective, Love.... Thank you!

      Tabby LivvyTabby LivvyIl y a 2 mois
    • I understand your perspective. Please consider another perspective. I understood his goals to be based on the amount of time and money he was investing to make his videos and if the format he was using was not going to reach the wider audiences, he was going to have to change something to make it worth his efforts. From my perspective, he wasn't just looking for "Likes" and "Shares," he was looking for a way to make sure he was investing his time and money wisely.

      Suzy PersonSuzy PersonIl y a 2 mois
    • I understand what you are saying. However i think it's more of the goal he had in mind, to reach a very wide audience, that was his drive and he wasn't reaching it as expected. As the saying goes high expectations make frustrated men. Nevertheless those videos with few viewers might have changed someone's life and that really matters too.

  • TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV DHAR: I love the fact that you learned and you sold your cars and paid everyone back which shows what kind of person you are. You paid you debts back which is wonderful. I loved that you felt that you weren’t real, so you went off Instagram. Investment fund in a company that was a ponzu fund. At 30 he absolutely broke. An break up in the news. I love how you don’t give up and at 19 he got in to Real Estate loan company. Made good money and then it failed. Took on Government Rehab construction grant money. 2010-2011 he was growing weed for Medical Use. Growing attention and seen that he took shortcuts on Construction grants, so he fought criminal charges he accepted the criminal charges and probation for 5years. Your so honest about changing your life around. You killed jet set life. He takes Makeup online with his last $600.00 on Instagram and it works and he does it right to he paid everyone back. What a stand up guy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The makeup girl was Laura who fixed Dhar’s broken compass 🧭. The makeup business and Laura takes off. I don’t know how to tell you how much I appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness instilled in you. You became empathetic because you really started caring for people. Put out videos when he put out actors when he told his stories. On last video in the morning it went viral on relationships which Dhar you are great at relationships--Laura and you. You have to move people emotionally. @dhar.mann Dhar where do you see is 2020. Only creative content towards children and international. Be relatable. You totally are. Three lessons: keep going, go all in, and go long time

  • men who are tall & good looking like these two obviously are could never begin to relate to how harsh life is for men who are short & ugly. the sad reality is that no mindset or amount of confidence and self esteem can begin to make up for such extremely negative attributes. some of us are depressed & lonely due to being far too physically unattractive to be able to experience intimate relationships so are destined to be single, alone & unwanted despite whatever else we may have going for us. there is only so much failure & rejection that one can take before they come to understand that we are simply not good enough due to factors entirely beyond our control.

    • Ahimsa42 For online dating, people can only judge by looks, that’s the only thing they can see there lol

      Jessy QpidsJessy QpidsIl y a 2 mois
    • @Jessy Qpids based on my own personal experience i would strongly disagree. at one time this may have been the case but currently the vast majority of even average & below average looking women demand tall, above average looking men and very few if any have interest in men of a lower attractiveness level. this is very likely due to online dating & apps like tinder which showcase a plethora of above average looking men who are available at the swipe of a phone screen. there is simply no way for an average let alone a below average man to compete with men of this level so the only option is to give up hope entirely in the area of dating & romantic relationships.

      Ahimsa42Ahimsa42Il y a 2 mois
    • Ahimsa42 The kind of women you are talking are those who still need to learn from heartbreak, after that they will learn to appreciate more about who they are than how they look. It applies to men as well. Imagine if you meet a hot girl, few minutes into conversation you realise that she’s crazy, will you still want to have a relationship with her?

      Jessy QpidsJessy QpidsIl y a 2 mois
    • @Jessy Qpids perhaps-but many women are more than willing to overlook personality flaws in attractive men. the Halo Effect is an extremely powerful unconscious bias and often times those who are most in denial about it are the one's who are the most influenced by it. regardless, without a certain baseline of height & looks there are extremely few women who are interested in giving below average men a chance in the first place. i think the vast majority of time when a women is attracted to a man's personality but not physically attracted to him it results to a trip right to the dreaded pathetic friend zone.

      Ahimsa42Ahimsa42Il y a 2 mois
    • Ahimsa42 Hey, I want to say that guys who are more confident and have self love are far more attractive than guys who only have good looks. If they have bad personality, just the look is not gonna be enough.

      Jhoanna DavidoffJhoanna DavidoffIl y a 2 mois
    • I'm with Jhoanna. Kudos to Lewis for framing this as a "broken moral compass" story. I went back and watched this twice because parts of it made me cringe. Dhar is slick and a charismatic salesman, no doubt - but he downplayed he has a recurring history of fraud issues ( he went "dark" for four years because , according to news accounts, he is a convicted FELON on 5 counts of defrauding the city and his missteps apparently got his politically connected parents in hot water as well. News accounts show there were new accusations of fraud, i.e. credit card fraud at his beauty business.) and that's separate from his concerning implication in the Ponzi Scheme crime (which he states he was cleared on). What feels odd about this interview is the way he boasts about it all as if its "crazy" and shifts focus to the claim "almost every video I put up ends up in the tens of millions of views." This is over the top and false. His most popular videos appear to have gotten into the million range of views (decent) but NOT the 10 million range. its an outlandish claim. I think Lewis and his School of Greatness brand are very strong - i would urge the School of Greatness staff to guard the brand by thinking twice (or doing some serious research) before inviting Dhar back. He admits to using "optimization" tools to boost viewership. Having a "million views" does NOT mean you have been watched by a million people - optimization tools distort reality, an issue social media, now under regulatory scrutiny, is being forced to address. Just saying... lot of issues of fraud and taking advantage of friends/family here without a lot of introspection. Let's keep School of Greatness great:) decent interview, but....very odd.

    Sharon MargretSharon MargretIl y a 2 mois
  • I enjoyed the interview but there was one question Lewis did not ask and I believe it is key... Dhar said that he started with some money. How did he get that money? I think its easy to make money if you have money. You can invest it in real estate and other companies. But how do you start with absolutely nothing. Money gives you access to people that most people do not have access to. That plays a huge part in someones success. Theres a reason why certain zip codes are so expensive to live in. They want to ensure that those who live there "qualify". So... how did Dhar come into his money? Mom and Dad?
